Summer Holidays

This has been a hectic Summer. We've had lots of birthday parties, a camping trip, visitors, holiday club, etc.

This is picture-summary of my news from the end of June until now:

This is me at swimming lessons, with my friends Jacob and Lukas. We swam twice a week for 3 months.

For my 10th birthday I had a football party.  It was quite fun. (I invited a few more people than there are in the picture)

A picture of me, about to pass to my team mate.

This was the party food. Top right, are the drinks. Top left is the pizza. Between them is some watermelon. In the front are the chips and my cake.

Jacob, Jed, Nikolas, Isaac, Lukas, me and Marie all eating lunch.

Isaac, the team captain for the other team.

Me at Chiara's birthday party (a friend of my younger siblings)

We said goodbye to our friends, The Foleys. They also homeschool. They moved back to Scotland. We are going to miss them :(

Our friends, Dave and Cathy and their son Matt, have recently moved to Cyprus and they took us out for lunch. It was so nice to see them again.

We went to Paralimni and did some shopping at Sports Direct. Afterwards we went down to the beach for a quick swim. And then we visited our friend, Olivia. She cooked an AMAZING chicken curry!

We went camping for a long weekend in the Troodos Mountains early in August. We also went to the Millomeri waterfalls and the water was cold!

I was convinced to go underneath the waterfall - it felt like hailstones on my back!

On the last night we had a potjie and played some baseball with our friends who came camping with us.

My mom got this great action shot!
For a birthday treat my Mom cooked fried eggs, baked beans and toast, sausages, bacon and fried banana.

For my 10th birthday I got a pair of shin pads, a cycling water bottle and holder, the guiness world records 2011, a pocket knife and some ankle socks.

Jacob and I building a castle at Jed's birthday.

Jed's birthday cake ..... an ice-cream cake shaped as a castle.

A family picture of the Langes and the van Roon-Gifford children. We stayed at the beach till after sunset watching them give Jed his many birthday presents.
We went ten-pin bowling with our friends from England, Nathan .....

and his sister, Lauren. It was so nice to see them again and we had alot of fun playing Laser Guns and bowling together. They were here in Cyprus visiting their Gran, Teddy, a special friend of ours.

I really enjoy bowling !

Jed, Aimee and I enjoy a cold drink together between the bowling.

Another highlight of our holidays was a visit from Lijo, one of my Mom's ex-students. He is a South African-Indian who lives in England and works at a bank. He came and had supper with us.
My little brother, Ethan, turned 5 this summer. He has a Cowboy Party up on the hill with his friends. They did all sorts of cowboy things, like lassoing cows. Here they are all kitted out in their bandanas and waistcoats.

Jamie and Jordan, our new friends from England, came over after holiday club one afternoon, to have lunch and spend the afternoon. Jamie is 12 and Jordan is 9.

My brothers and I bought ourselves a Wii with our Christmas and Birthday money. I prefer Wii to the playstation and am really enjoying it. My favourite game is FIFA 11. I also really enjoy playing Wii Sports.

My Grampa surprised us with a visit these holidays. We went to Cape Greko and Konos Bay together.

We rented a paddle boat for half an hour and we really enjoyed it.

Jed and I were going to rent a kayak but we were told we had to have an adult. So Grampa offered to come with us. We paddled out about 500m up to a plastic Mini car that was floating on the water. Jed and I enjoyed the kayaking alot.

Grandpa took us out bowling with some of our friends. This was a birthday party for Jed, Ethan, Aimee and I. We also had KFC for dinner. My Mom made a cake saying 'Happy Birthday, Ryan, Jed, Ethan and Aimee'. It was a really nice evening. I had lots of fun with my friends.

We took Grandpa up to the St Hilarion Castle near Kyrenia. This photo was taken almost right at the top, after a hard climb up many stairs. I really enjoyed going to the castle, it was very interesting. My favourite was seeing how stuff looked in the olden days. After we went to the castle Grandpa took us to lunch at a Traditional Turkish restaurant. We had a variety of dishes and it was quite nice.

The night before Grandpa left we had dinner with Nikos, Theodora and Eleni (our Greek relatives) at the Ocean Basket on the Phinikoudes. It was very nice. My favourite was the food - all of it!

At the entrance to St Hilarion's Castle, with Grandpa.

We went go-karting one evening with Jamie and Jordan.

The last time we'd gone go-karting was 2 years ago on my birthday. It was quite fun to go again, and I really fun to go with friends.

Jed and I battling for front position.

One Sunday, we performed some of the 'Interpretive Dances' we'd learned at the Holiday Club at our church. I love Interpretive Dance!

We swam a few times with Nikolas at his grandfather's hotel. We had so much fun togther.

We were invited to Nikolas's birthday pool party at his grandfather's hotel. He had a football cake and I really like the pizza! Nikolas is now 8 years old and we bought a pogo stick.

A group photo at Nikolas's birthday party. The Dudes!
